Sunday 18th January – Learn to Sew in a Day

Got a sewing machine and no idea how to use it?! Bring it along to this workshop. The day is aimed at absolute beginners to find your way around your sewing machine and use your new-found skills to make a simple fabric bag or cushion cover. You can use one of my machines if you haven’t got round to buying your own yet. Just bring fabric and thread. Sunday 8th February – The Beginner’s Guide to Dressmaking ***

Come and make a garment from Wendy’s sewing book. You will be taken step-by-step through using one of the 6 patterns from “The Beginner’s Guide to Dressmaking” and should have a new t-shirt, skirt, dress, trousers or jacket to take home at the end of the day! Just bring fabric and thread. Price includes a copy of the book to take home. Sunday 22nd March – Make your First Garment in a Day ***

Got a sewing machine and happily doing a bit of sewing but want to have a go at making clothes? Do sewing patterns bring you out in a cold sweat?! Come to this workshop to re-cap some good sewing machine basics and use one of Wendy’s easy-to-follow, tried and tested sewing patterns and make a shrug, skirt, vest or t-shirt dress by the end of the day. Just bring fabric and thread. Price includes a pattern to take home. Sunday 19th April – Sewing with Knits ***

Sewing with stretchy jersey fabrics is easier than you might think.   At this workshop you’ll learn the best ways to cut and sew knitted fabrics using just a regular sewing machine.  You can choose from a range of Wendy’s patterns specifically designed for jersey fabrics for you to whip up something to wear by the end of the day. All you need to bring is some stretch knit fabric of your choice and matching thread.  Suitable for beginners and those with a bit of sewing experience.                                                                                                     • Class size limited to just 5 people

Sunday 10th May – Summer Frock Making ***

Fancy making a unique summer dress to take on holiday, to go to that summer wedding or just to waft around town in?! Come along to this workshop where you can choose from six of Wendy’s dress patterns that cover a range of styles and levels of difficulty and whip up your new frock by the end of the day. Just bring your fabric and matching thread. Suitable for beginners and those with a bit of sewing experience.                                                                           • Class size limited to just 5 people

Sunday 24th May – Beginner’s Pattern Cutting

Not sure if pattern cutting is for you? Try this one-day intensive workshop, suitable for beginners. You will draft a skirt block and pattern and make a skirt toile (sample) to your own measurements. You’ll also learn how to make the skirt block into a pencil skirt and an A-line skirt. This workshop is only suitable for people who have made clothes from patterns and are confident using a sewing machine.                                                                                         • Class size limited to just 4 people           • 11am to 4pm           • £70

Sunday 14th June – Pattern Cutting for Dresses 2 – Sleeves & Style Adaptations

Aimed at students who have previously drafted a one-piece dress block with me or elsewhere. We will be drafting a sleeve for the dress and I’ll show you the best way to set in a sleeve, we’ll look at the basics of dart manipulation and some basic style adaptations including: princess line, collars and some sleeve adaptations. You will need to bring your original dress block with you in order to draft the sleeve! This workshop is only suitable for people who have made clothes from patterns and are confident using a sewing machine. It is NOT suitable for those who have never done any pattern cutting or dressmaking.

*** IMPORTANT: ALL WORKSHOPS THAT USE WENDY’S PATTERNS COVER THE FOLLOWING MEASUREMENTS: bust 84-101cm (33-40″), waist 68-85cm (27-33.5″), hips 92-109cm (36-43″) if your measurements are outside of this range contact Wendy to see if the workshop will still be suitable for you.
